State and Federal Programs Staff

Gary Johnston—Director of State and Federal Programs

Gary joined Vallivue School District as the Director of Assessment and Instructional Services and is now the Director of State and Federal Programs.  Prior to coming to Vallivue he was a middle school reading and English teacher for eight years, an elementary school counselor for nine years, and a principal for nine years in Caldwell School District.  He received his BA in English at Northwest Nazarene University, his M.ED. in school counseling at Albertson College of Idaho, and his administrative certification from the University of Idaho.   He enjoys spending time with family and traveling when time permits.

Sarah Seamount—LEP/Migrant Coordinator

Sarah Seamount is the LEP and Migrant Coordinator for the Vallivue School District. She has been working with English Learners for 11 years, as a middle school/high school ESL teacher, an adult ESL teacher, a SIOP trainer, and an ELD coach.  She is also the Migrant Summer School director, a position she has held for 12 years.  Sarah works with the family liaisons and regional coordinator to continue to improve the Migrant Education Program. The goal of this program is to assist students with the extra challenges of a migratory lifestyle.  Her greatest reward is to watch the progress of the students as they master a difficult new language.

Aracely Cornejo— Migrant Regional Coordinator (Region I)

Aracely began working for the Vallivue School District in the summer of 2008. She serves as the Migrant Regional Coordinator for Region I, which includes a total of ten school districts. Along with the Vallivue School District, Region I includes: Caldwell, Emmett, Fruitland, Middleton, New Plymouth, Notus, Parma, Payette, and Weiser. Aracely received her Associates degree in Social Studies and has over 10 years of experience working in education. What she enjoys most about her work is to be able to “advocate for the rights and responsibilities of all of our students; specifically, addressing the needs of our migrant students and their parents.”
