Mert joined the Vallivue School District team in 1996 as assistant director of special services and now serves as the director.  Prior to coming to Vallivue Mert worked as a special education teacher, special education supervisor, and assistant principal.  He earned his master’s degree in education administration at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. 

Mert is a member of the Idaho Association of Special Education Administrators (IASEA) and currently serves as its president. He is an adjunct faculty member at Northwest Nazarene University where he teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in special education.  He is also a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Mert loves working in Vallivue School District and feels that the students, patrons, and staff are the best in the state!
